I have always loved to read. A book not only gives us an opportunity to get away from immediate problems and relax, but it also trains our imagination and enriches our vocabulary. Books in our house have always been, probably due to my mother’s love for English detectives, I myself fell in love with works created by English classics.

Most likely, many people have collections of Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie still gathering dust in their bookcases. Personally, I can’t imagine my childhood without my mother reading these authors and the movies based on their works, which my parents watched.

If the works of Conan Doyle I have almost all read, then to the detectives of Agatha Christie I got only now, and it happened spontaneously.

I have long ago switched from paper books to electronic books, it is more convenient for me, and it is easier to read in the dark when everyone is asleep. In the application accumulated a decent amount of books, but less and less time to read them. But I still decided to give myself, even if a little time to do my favorite thing – reading.

Going through the books, I came across a detective novel by Agatha Christie, “Death on the Nile. The volume of pages it was small, in a couple of evenings just to get through it. It seemed that it was time to get acquainted with the work of this acclaimed author.

The plot of this detective novel is as old as the world: a murder for love and money, or love of money, whichever you prefer.

Three murders take place on a steamer sailing down the Nile to Egypt. A brilliant detective, shrewd good-natured Hercule Poirot, a member of this excursion, can not indulge in idleness and immediately begins to investigate … Why, for what, who killed the young beautiful rich girl? How many killers were there? Who and why replaced the pearl beads with fake? Rejecting many versions and sweeping away extraneous facts, Poirot successfully solves a mysterious crime.

The investigation in this novel is taken by the unsurpassed detective Hercule Poirot, and he is helped by his old friend Colonel Reis, who is not in Egypt for the holidays.

“Death on the Nile” 52 works of Agatha Christie, where the main character is Hercule Poirot. A total of 72 books are devoted to him, read and not reread, as they say.

Hercule Poirot – the Belgian detective and the protagonist of 33 novels, 54 short stories and a play, published between 1920 and 1975, as well as films, TV shows, theatrical productions and radio shows. The series is currently being continued by another English writer, Sophie Hannah, who has published 3 detective novels about Hercule Poirot for 2019.

The character of Hercule Poirot was described as I had imagined him to be, looking at the screen image created by British actor David Souché. But as a person he turned out to be much more pleasant and kind than his screen image.

Communicating as a psychologist, Poirot tries to understand the motives of certain characters and as a kind uncle he helps with advice and guidance.

At first the plot seemed to me boring, and the introduction to the characters of the novel a little protracted. But when the author introduced us to all the characters, the most interesting thing began, here I could not and did not want to tear myself away from the book.

Until the last part I had no idea who the perpetrators were. I caught myself thinking that now I would understand for sure, and then it turned out that the thread was leading to the wrong place.

Finally, when the culprit was found and the novel came to its end, I felt sad to say goodbye to the character of Hercule Poirot and I decided to read other books where this genius detective takes up new investigations.

As I expected, I read this book in three evenings. A fascinating plot, easy presentation of the author, I think the translation also plays no small role in conveying the mood. This detective novel easy to read on the road, taking with you or just to pass the time in the evening. It is read in the same breath.

I recommend the detective novel “Death on the Nile” to all fans of detectives and the works of writer Agatha Christie in general. I am not at all disappointed that I finally got to know this work.
